GN: DAO360.DLL or DAO350.DLL Improperly Installed to Root of Drive on Windows XP

The DAO360.DLL or DAO350.DLL file is incorrectly installed to the root of the drive rather than to "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAO".  This only occurs when the target computer is running Windows XP.


PQ Systems product installs built on or after 10-Feb-2003 have been corrected so that the DAO3?0.DLL file is installed to the proper folder on a Windows XP computer.

Here are the steps you can take to fix this issue.  Do this only if DAO360.DLL (or DAO350.DLL) has been installed to the root of the drive.  You will need to be a member of either the Administrators or Power Users group to perform these steps.  If you need help then contact PQ Systems Technical Support for assistance.  The following example assumes the C: drive, but your drive letter may be different.  Also, please substitute DAO350.DLL in place of DAO360.DLL as appropriate.

  1. Use Windows Explorer to examine the "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAO" folder.  This folder is typically on the same drive where Windows is installed.  If the DAO sub-folder doesn’t exist, then create it.  If the DAO360.DLL file is not present in this folder, then copy it into the DAO sub-folder from the root folder.

  2. Use Regsvr32.exe to register the "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODAO360.DLL" file.  Enter the following Regsvr32 command in a command window or from Start > Run.  The double-quotation marks are required.

    Regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODAO360.DLL"

  3. Use Windows Explorer to delete the DAO360.DLL file from the root of the drive.
